Dr. Belaire works from a spiritual perspective incorporating the values and beliefs of the client into the counseling session. Spirituality and religious values are integral aspects of people's lives. Therefore, addressing issues from a spiritual or religious framework adds an important dimension to the counseling process.
Clients can decide to what extent they wish to discuss spiritual or religious issues within the counseling sessions. Dr. Belaire can help clients understand issues as they relate to their beliefs and formulate solutions that are congruent with the client's own spiritual and religious beliefs.
Dr. Belaire's research has focused on spirituality and religion in the counseling process, publishing numerous articles in this area. Further, Dr. Belaire's dissertation entitled Conservative Christians' Expectations for Counseling combined the area of spirituality/religion and expectations for counseing and examined what conservative Christians expect from the counseling process when working with a Christian counselor or a counselor without a religous identifier in the title.
